Out of hours emergency care when you need it

Whilst we would love to provide after hours care ourselves, as a small team it’s sadly impossible to do so alongside caring for our own families (furry and non-furry!). We have therefore arranged for your pets to be seen by Vets Now, an emergency hospital with a skilled team of professionals based just down the road in Gorgie. Vets Now are equipped and staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

This was our first vet visit with one of our rabbits. He had a castration procedure performed under full anesthesia. We are very satisfied with the service and medical care. Cookie was in very good condition after the procedure. We will definitely return to the clinic soon for treatment with our second rabbit. We recommend this place to all pet owners!

We were looking for a vet that offers laparoscopic spaying for my 7 month old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel Lucy, and after many enquiries to different vets in Glasgow and Edinburgh, we made the decision to go with West Edinburgh Vets.
The quality of care they provided from the very beginning was exceptional. Karen, the vet introduced herself and carefully went through the procedure step by step and it was obvious she was experienced so that instantly put our minds at ease.
Upon return to collect Lucy after the procedure Natalie the nurse was fantastic with us. She was professional and friendly and explained the aftercare and took the time to have a chat, making it obvious they are an independent vet that actually care for their patients and customers when most vets are only interested in the money.

Highly recommended West Edinburgh Vets. Karen and the whole team have been amazing with me and my two rescue cats poppy and cookie. Both my girls have on going health issues and I can be a nervous owner at times. Karen is wonderful at dealing with them aswell as calming me down from worrying about them, she really does go above and beyond with the girls health, we also see matthew who is fantastic aswell. Angela, Julie, nicola and Natalie always give us such a warm welcome and I can't ever thank the whole team enough for how much they have helped us with our journey in keeping the girls in good health.

Such an amazing team and so thankful they are our local vets.

I cannot recommend West Edinburgh Vets highly enough. I recently moved my 3 greyhounds here as I wanted to support a local and, in particular, an independent practice. Karen and Matthew are both knowledgeable and caring and the reception and nursing staff so warm and welcoming. The atmosphere is calm and everything spotless and your consultation never feels rushed. Sadly I had to say goodbye to one of my dogs and I was very touched by the gestures of sympathy from all at the practice at what was an extremely upsetting time. You only really get the true measure of an organisation by experiencing how they see you through the harder times.

I have just moved my rabbit to this vet practise and today was her first appointment. Wow, the practise is absolutely stunning and such lovely atmosphere and vibes from the minute I went inside. They have a coffee machine for you to use while you wait which I think is a lovely touch. Julie on reception was extremely lovely and made me and my rabbit Lucy feel so comfortable here. Karen who see. to Lucy is exceptional. She took great care of her, calmed her down when she started being sassy, and was so patient and the level of care she provided was amazing. After not the best experiences in the past at a different vets, I am so so pleased I moved here. Highly recommend!!
